Many "web designers" are great with Photoshop, but don't understand that a lot of special effects that are easy to make with Photoshop can be very time-consuming to pull off with HTML/CSS. For the record, I think the ideal situation is to s

Their campaign to try to equate internet access with a human right is unfortunate. It takes whats a very sensible overall idea that almost everybody agrees with (increasing the unhindered flow of information) and immediately makes it sound

Parody and commenting about something and humor and so forth is protected as fair use even under our horrendously fucked up "intellectual property" system. Now, I think Facebook has the right to block whatever links they want to block on th

I think the funnest IP address site is http://www.moanmyip.com/ though http://www.ipgoat.com/ is also pretty funny. Turn your speakers on before visiting either. :)

I can understand blocking IE users, but I don't understand why Chrome or other modern browsers should be blocked with no explanation.

Maintaining a decent blog often involves more work than expected. If I was starting over, I'd probably just go with something like Posterous for the random occasion when I want to write something and be done with it. Tumblr is also a possib

Unless there's an overwhelmingly great reason to go with another one, I would get Facebook on my resume and set myself up to easily get jobs for life.

When I first saw the redesign of TheSixtyOne, I also thought it was nuts; a classic case of web-design by graphic-designer. But then I realized that it's an amazing solution to the problem they're trying to solve; discovering new music. You

I don't think normal people (the non-technical masses which are necessary to make social-networking type sites a success) will come anywhere close to understanding what a decentralized or distributed social-network is. The amount of time &

Craigslist's UI is fantastic. It's not pretty, but that's about the least important element of web-design. It's very easy for people to understand how things are organized. Cities are organized together, categories are organized together. A
