It depends. JSON is very fragile. You lose a tweet or two here or there, not a big issue. JSON will do it just fine. Your bank on the other hand will prefer XML that can be validated with XSD and you don't lose your car payment. Or your sal

When I create a new architecture / design I would love to be able to chat even 10 min with a "vanity hire". Advice, 2nd opinion or just a different perspective - it saves you from months of dead ends...

Had the same issue, same two languages. Google Go still feels far from prime time, so I settled on Scala. Got David Pollak's "Beginning Scala" book, Googled a lot and after several days of coding it clicked. Well worth the effort! The Web f

We are using 2.8.0 in production and so far it is OK. Porting old 2.7.x code to 2.8 is painful, but new code works as advertised. Still pain: the only working IDE is Emacs+ENSIME, documentation is scarce, learning curve is very steep. On th

The language and its implementation will limit the efficiency of the end-result (the running code). The current Google Go compiler implementation produces slow code, but there's a potential to make it as fast as C. The JavaScript implementa

I guess this is the reason why Scala gets a lot of attention: same speed as Java (on JVM), fully compatible with Java, it has static typing, and it's productive like RoR or Python. BTW, both the Java (javac) and Scala compilers were wri
