If all other fingerprinting techniques would magically disappear, then FLoC is an improvement. If other fingerprinting techniques stay, then it's actually worse, since there is now an extra data point to better identify users.

I doubt that very much. Consider these scenarios: 1. Call for free from home/couch with a regular camera in the privacy of my home. 2. Go to some location and pay a third party to do a less private call, and have a better visual experi

In theory: yes. In practice, wiring traditional currency requires KYC (Know Your Customer) and has a lot of legal/regulatory requirements. One of that is data collection and retention for auditing purposes.

A very important detail is that this only opts out of ad personalisation. It doesn't actually stop exposing this unique identifier as iOS does. Next to the id, there's also a flag that basically says "am I allowed to use it?&

I think it's less about the data, but more about the consent regarding the usage of that data. At least the call message is honest about its intent, so you know what you're consenting to. The Facebook button, however, doesn't
