check-all-the-things does exactly that already. Only knows about Debian dependencies so far though and still working on how to do automatic installs.

Do your linters support the Firehose static analysis results format?

It might be interesting to split those native linters out into separate projects so that other meta-linters like flycheck, check-all-the-things, various IDEs etc can also use them.

I think you were using debootstrap rather than Debian bootstrapping? They are two quite different things. Also: https://wiki.debian.org/Mobile

If the CCC can do it every year, Burning Man can do it, Niue can do it, an island off Nicaragua can do it, then the middle of the USA can too. http://wiki.rhizomatica.org/index.php/Rhizomatica_GSM http://www

If you are doing something unrelated you probably aren't interested in packaging some dependency for Debian, so you may as well just manually compile and bundle your deps into a container format like docker/appimage.

I think most Debian people think all these container things are a nightmare so none of them will be "official", just available to folks who want them.

tail: journalctl -f Personally, I found journalctl much better than text based logs. For the timeouts, I think try the systemd-bootchart thing.

In addition to what rleigh said, you could package them for Debian :) https://mentors.debian.net/intro-maintainers

It is best to not bundle third party libraries, instead, have your build system check if the libs are installed and if they aren't then download and build them. rleigh mentions below that cmake can do that.

These days the questions thing has been replaced by a more streamlined process, basically if you have been contributing for a while you'll be accepted.

When you package 24000 things, you find significant diversity in build systems, languages, source code, testing etc. It isn't easy to package all of that in simple ways.

These days there are several very active sponsors so it should not be a problem to get new packages in. Upload and forget leads to dead packages that get removed next time there is a library transition. Debian is about long-term maintenance
