Agreed that Google isn’t going to announce one day that they’re going to demolish all the datacenters in 30 days, but that doesn’t mean that GCP has any guaranteed future either. If Google leadership decides to walk away from cloud hosting,

There is nothing smooth about AWS's billing; it's notoriously byzantine, and so difficult to interpret that there are multiple third-party services whose entire offering is based on ingesting and parsing your AWS bill.

If you look at the set of all the people in the world you like to hang out with, and somehow, incidentally, nobody from a discrimination-protected group is in that set... I have some bad news for you about your personal biases.

The New Yorker wrote about a similar issue for Oregon and Washington, in a 2015 article called “The Really Big One”. It would appear that the entire west coast of the United States is uninhabitable on a geologic timescale, and yet... here w

It’s a little more tightly scoped than that. From what I’m seeing, no parties are arguing that websites are themselves Title III “public accommodations”. Rather, the 9th circuit held that the Domino’s websites were part of the Domino’s serv

Well, sure, if you hate your devops team and you want to make sure they can’t use any of the proprietary functionality of either provider. At which point, if you want to be managing a fleet of vanilla Linux boxes yourself, why use a cloud p

The US as a whole might have statistically great broadband, but that's cold comfort to folks paying $200/month for 10 megabits. Roads are better in some counties than others, but generally not two orders of magnitude worse on the

AWS generally doesn’t announce dates for BAA coverage ahead of time, but your account manager may be able to give you a heads-up a couple weeks beforehand if you ask.

The phenomenon is weird, from a historical lens, but I don’t think it’s strange to hold one of the people most responsible for (and most profiting from) the phenomenon to be bound by it as strongly as the rest of us.
