Part of the issue is that many of the neurons in a neural network end up contributing little to the performance. This is why the practice of pruning, the removal of neurons that don't contribute much, exists [1]. Neurons can end up hav

What I am meaning is the input to the transistor on a chip is highly volatile, so the aproxmation of its power consumption using infinite or long periods of time of a single value is misleading. If a transistor is only reciving 5v than it i

You bring up an excellent point, I had neglected to show the effect of time in my explanation as you said. And it is true that this has real impact as to the magnitude of what I was talking about. But so long as the switching time != infini

I want to start by agreeing with you. It is true what you said about overclocking, chips that run cooler will be able to clock higher, and it is true that chips will disable sections of or even entire cores if they are un-used. So I don

The thing is they are the least efficent at idle. If you are seeing higher baseline current you can interpret this as the chip sort of having a lower internal resistance which is a double edge sword.

I think there is some merit to these chips having better power consumption. Generally the CCX's that draw more current under no cpu load are capable of higher clocks albeit at higher power draws at said clock.[i] That is to say is that

AMD has always had the problem of having weaker cpu's that were better per dollar. I agree they should have highlighted the 5x advantage, but for a long time people have regarded AMD as the value weaker option; this is what changed thi

You are very correct in your points, but I would like to highlight that we push our phone and laptop batteries very hard. They are normally pushed to full charge and discharge and not properly cooled (In the case of phones they are sometime

I know these propellers [0] are maybe 1/4 to like 1/8th the size of those shown but thee 56g weight surprised me a lot. 0- https://www.robotshop.com/en/t-motor-22-x-66--carbon-fiber-p...

I do see tschellenbach's point. Way back when google seemingly bought android to be more able to compete in search [0], and now it has been good business for them even back in 2010 android showed real promise in terms of profit [1]. So

I disagree with a lot of what google is doing. It's unfair that google seems to have a free spot and do not have to compete in the bidding here [0]. IANAL, so I wonder if this really fulfils what Google is trying to achieve legally. Th

It seems like Google's play store is doing well with 24.8 Billion dollars of Worldwide gross app revenue [0] as of 2018. Awhile ago Oracle gave an estimate of 31 billion dollars as an estimate of total revenue [2] but that seemed like

Its an odd world we live in, where a 30 year old plane is considered more reliable and safe than one particular model of Boeing's "Next Generation lineup". That said there are 50+ year old planes still in service [0], so it i

Capital has been cheap for some time now, since the economic crash in 2008. It has only been since ~2016 that the Federal Funds Rate has lifted above half a percent [0]. And although the rates have recently been increased (Rate recently fel

I would say falling revenue would be the biggest driver here, in 2010 AMD had annual revenue of 6.49 Billion USD, by 2013 this number had fallen to 5.29 Billion. It continued to slide to a low of 3.99 Billion in 2015. [0] - https:/&#x
