As an aside, if anyone is looking for an absolutely insane pepper mill, get the Männkitchen Pepper Cannon. You will never need another one. It's a big solid hunk of aluminum, stainless steel burrs, and puts out 5-10x the amount that ot

Even on a good 4K TV, 2GB rips (and definitely the 4-6GB rips you can often also find) are really quite adequate for a lot of movies if it's a modern codec and the rip has been done well. Some movies are a bit more challenging than oth

Could I have a cite on this, to satisfy my curiosity? What was changed? By whom? Where's the evidence that it was changed on purpose, for this specific reason?

I agree with you about this part. I do general IT support and have had to set up one of my clients with a large number of Sonos speakers in their office. It was a pain and the tech doesn't seem to be as good of a match for corporate ne

On the contrary, we already know, and the details in the suit prove it. Sonos engineers used packet sniffing. Google copied the precise techniques Sonos uses to set up and control speakers.

It's not obvious at all, for wireless speakers, especially in complex multi-room setups. If it were obvious and easy, then everyone's wireless audio products would handle this as well as Sonos does. But they don't. I bought t

Might be good to read the patents before posting this comment. The patents in the suit are far, far more detailed than Inc's throwaway one-line description in this article. Sonos' tech here also involves seamless automatic wireles

Except in this particular case there appears to be a near-zero risk of anyone being "complicit" in bad police outcomes, given that it's opt-in, can only be used on a case-by-case basis, and it's the citizen who searches

To make matters worse, the article then exaggerates the problem while attempting to contextualize it: "“We worked out that at 100% efficiency from wall socket to battery, it would take about 73 coal power plants running for a day to ch

One flaw I note in the article, which is supposed to be all about charging efficiency: Not once does the article cite a single figure on the actual charging efficiency achieved in any of its tests. Yes, it does say that "47% more power

Defaults do matter, I agree, and it's also ok to complain about any given default option if one thinks it's a bad option. That doesn't make it ok to lie and mislead people in the process of making that complaint, though. It&#

Snow actually didn't use to happen in those places. Not in this way. That's why the word "change" is in "climate change". DC, btw, is not a state, and has no "state government".
