As sensible as that is in a general sense, this article is actually heavily about dependencies and making sure the latency between when the browser knows about dependencies is small.

He didn't try to 'reinvent a model' he just showed where modern numbers fall in his simple benchmarks.

The article isn't really about napkin math and rough estimates. It actually goes into using simple benchmarks to calibrate to modern performance numbers.

This has been done in various forms for a very long time. Winamp visualizations were common back in the day. Look at Touch Designer if you want to see one of the ways large concert panels are driven.

Modern lightbulbs don't even turn on in 100ms. I have a hard time believing sub second computer booting is really at the top of anyone's priorities.

Absolutely - the file system also has attributes like atime - the last accessed time of a file. It isn't as granular on windows, but a search could still prioritize files by when they were last read.

If you want to see an example of what file search could be like, use the program 'everything'. I have no idea how microsoft creates something so terrible in the first place, let one leaves it that way.

Those are examples of some sort of ecosystem. I didn't say rust doesn't have any, I'm saying it pales in comparison to C++.

What do you mean by 'did not stick'. If you mean that trump supporters didn't turn on him for cheating on his wife with pornstars and paying them to be quiet, then that could be reasonable, but the fact that it happened is

What no one seems to be able to do is make a simple language and leave it alone to focus on tools and ecosystem. It always seems to be that the momentum of solving an initial problem with the language is carried into solving more problems
