I think it's being pursued aggressively in the US. WSJ reports that the Manhattan US Attorney's office is investigating[1]. The US and the Bahamas are discussing extradition[2]. The House Financial Services Committee is having at

Is there clear evidence that shadowbanning existed on Twitter? Misunderstanding eventual consistency doesn’t count. I’m not going to be surprised if there is real evidence, I’ve just never seen any.

A couple of months ago Elon posted some notes on usage that indicated that the users with huge followings were in fact going away. This was later confirmed by a leaked internal research document[1]. So yes; we are close to that and quite po

Do you know the NFL betting scam? It's awesome. Here's how it works. You choose 1024 people, and you send all of them a prediction about one upcoming sports game, free of charge. 50% get one prediction, 50% get the other. Next wee

You might want to examine your priors. What if the issues you see as symptomatic of wide-spread left wing violence don't look the same way when when considered in the cold light of maximizing advertising dollars?

I don't think you can move your old posts, though, FWIW. But it's an analogy intended to help with the server selection process; I don't think it has to be perfect.

Should Mastodon fans just be phrasing this kind of choice as if it were email? "You can have an email account on any number of servers, and you can send email anywhere, no matter where your account is." "You can have a Mastod

The Birdwatch note also assumed he was using lifetime risk of dying in a car crash, which he wasn't (I double checked). I am not 100% sure that miles traveled is the most meaningful statistic, FWIW. Wouldn't it make more sense to

That's a great question, actually. Factors which I think play a role: 1. I'm not that heavily driven by ego in this kind of context. I know that approval is largely a function of how many people bother to vote on my notes. 2. Th

It is vulnerable to numbers, I think, for the same reason people believe misinformation. If a check looks plausible, some number of people will say it's correct without double checking.

The linked tweet and article claim that PayPal can pull money out of your bank account. There's no way to interpret the ToS like that; it clearly says this possibility only applies to your PayPal account and any money in there.
