Being banned from a social media platform is about what you have said and shared publicly there, not about your private thoughts. Please make sure nobody you know is leaving Discord just to post illegal/harmful content on Matrix, that&

The best solution there is to not send an Excel file. The most portable way is to export the data to CSV and send that.

I know the feeling of the DE getting in the way, part of resolving that for me was just learning to work with the DE rather than working against it and resisting changes. If an old workflow is slowed with a new update, it might be time to a

I used to feel that way but now I'm less picky and am comfortable using the stock version of any desktop environment, as long as it's stable and supports basic functions. There comes a point when you'll realize you're sw

For the first one, you should probably be using Wayland. X11 is considered an obsolete legacy window system, it's simply not going to stay relevant for modern uses. For the second one, I don't have any tips for you, nobody can fix

I don't understand. There is no rule anywhere that says an open source product has to focus on user choice, or that says a corporate solution has to disregard user choice. It's up to any group of developers to decide if they want

I don't get this criticism. That's one developer explaining their own development style, not representative of the whole project. And that mismatch and self-centeredness you describe is present in every open source community I

The problem with those tweets that you've liked is that they're misinformation. They may sound reasonable on the surface but what they're saying is factually wrong. Make sure to fact check any statements you read on Twitter,

I think your characterization isn't exactly correct, they've declined to implement some features, but they've also implemented a lot of other ones. >What is missing here isn't a lack of time or a lack of technical ski

Yes that's true. But by accepting an unusual patch you could also risk having a feature that doesn't fit in well with the rest of the project, breaks something unexpected in another area of the project, takes up a lot of maintaine

We can look back in hindsight and say that, but at the time it may have just been that nobody had the resources to do those things. I agree with your sentiment that some forking is preventable, but other times it isn't. Changing the fu

I don't understand this comment, every single software project in existence is like that. The pacing and threshold of what they'll accept is just different between projects. If you had some patches that get rejected, that's u

Please don't blame open source volunteers for not having the right skillset or for not having enough time to address every concern or merge every patch that comes their way. Everyone's got their strengths and weaknesses. I'm
