Thanks for taking the time to make this excellent comment. The original submission was excessively light on content, but your comment made the whole thing worthwhile. I also agree 100% with the value of a similar book by YC-related people.

From PEP 8: > The preferred place to break around a binary operator is after the operator, not before it. I'd be interested in hearing the justification for this rule. I think that leading a continuation line with the binary operator

I don't think that's the conclusion anyone is drawing. From the article: Mondays, as if they weren't bad enough, are the most likely day to break up. I was referring specifically to the shoddy article and its crap conclusions, not to th

What is the world coming to when a correction has to get 3 levels deep before it's actually correct on HN? (And you have less points than either of the ones above you? Seriously?)

While it's possible that more breakups happen on Monday, I postulate that Monday is actually just the day that people are most likely to report a weekend breakup. People who break up aren't rushing to Facebook right away. A breakup can be a

That's an interesting boundary case, but you are arguing the proper way to pay off a debt for someone who is clearly in a bankrupt situation.

It's hard to realize the value of Facebook when you don't yet have friends all over the country (or the world).

This isn't possible due to rounding. If you live somewhere with 7.5% sales tax (just to pick a number) and you want an item to be exactly $1.50, you have to price it at $1.40. Want five of those? The total comes to $7.52.

The copy on the front page (specifically the reasons to date ugly people) has a rather mocking tone. I can go along with the idea, but I feel like the site should be showing its members a lot more respect. If this site becomes known, I coul

I didn't say Tree Style tabs were better, only more usable (for me). I can have 30 tabs open and see a pretty wide portion of the page title. I sacrifice horizontal real estate (which is often wasted) for vertical real estate. I can underst

When Facebook started, it was just people, a couple pictures, their contact info, their classes, and a Wall. There was no messaging or News Feed. It really wasn't much of a social network at all compared to what it is today. I would argue t
