The article says that it's a class action suit. Law firms usually take those on for a share of the punitive damages, with no cost up front.

I'm having the same problem. I think it's a bad idea to use Facebook libraries for critical functionality. A lot of people (myself included) block Facebook resources from loading on external sites to decrease their ability to track user act

The problem with pop psychology is that it often is not quite right. A half dozen decades ago, the "new idea" was that kids should not be beaten, but encouraged (spare the rod and spoil the child). In the last decade or two, we've learned

Your version looks like a java/C# style to me. It's not really necessary to create a class for this.

Today's XKCD ( http://xkcd.com/978/ ) led me to this interesting and well-articulated blog post regarding the synthesis of "facts" via a Wikipedia-"reliable source" closed loop.

I think he actually said that the walls were to separate those who want it badly enough from those who don't. The point is not just that obstacles test you, but that they give you opportunity because others who want it less will give up and

It always confuses me when I don't see people take pennies out of the change tray at gas stations; it's free money, just sitting there. It confuses me when people pay to ride the bus when they're so unlikely to get caught not paying. It c

I wish this said "Ten recent Google search algorithm changes". When I clicked the link, I was anticipating to read an intellectual article related to relatively recent innovations to computational algorithms.

As a former poker player, the problem here is very clear. Let's say there is $100 in the pot, and it's going to cost $50 for me to call and be all-in. I'm paying $50 to win a total of $150. That means that I need to have a 1/3 chance of win

Like it or not, I think this is the future of human labor. As robots take over manufacturing (we're well on our way in the US) and other processes continue to be automated, we're left with the dilemma of finding productive work for displace

I ordered The Mythical Man-Month a year or two ago. This is something of a blasphemous statement on Hacker News, but for me the book was a letdown. It felt like a rehash of ideas that I already knew from reading Paul Graham's essays, ot

While "meditating" one night, I had nearly the opposite perception. I realized that time is just one long stretch, and our convention of splitting it up into week s, month s, and year s is just a way to allow us to repeat the same existe

This is inaccurate, isn't it? The whole point of working in teams is to share files. Any file that is being shared with everyone is being counted against everyone's space. At least that's my understanding of how Dropbox works based on shari

Are you going to argue that it is? Is GRUB merely a "tool" for booting your computer? Is libc a "tool" for exposing OS-provided functionality to software? Is GNOME a GUI "tool"?
