This service is amazing. I've been using the pilot for about 6 months and it's the best thing they've done. Get an email or SMS about a package and a code, rock up, punch your name and the code, the locker pops open and you get your package

Uploading and running executable code on other people's devices without their permission is absolutely illegal, regardless if it's exposed or not. I would be pissed if someone did this on any of my devices.

Based on the Github page, I would imagine Redis as a cache, MongoDB to store the 'non-relational data' (quoted from the GH page - I'm guessing the actual articles and such) and Postgres for the other application stuff - accounts, preference

It's not that instant real-money transactions are happening, but if I owe you $5 USD, I can say "I'll pay you 0.1142BTC" and the value to you is the same (as others have said, as long as the exchange rate doesn't fluctuate too much)

The thing is, it doesn't matter. As far as I know, nobody prices anything in Bitcoins, they price things in USD/AUD/<insert currency> and then convert that amount to Bitcoins for the transaction . You might end up paying 1.00 BTC,

If I have a problem with an online purchase that I can't sort out with the merchant, my bank is more than happy to compensate me for it. Not possible with Bitcoin.
