I'm a software engineer that mostly works on the front end of things, but from school and various jobs I have experience in: C, C++, Python, C#, Java. Mostly object oriented (distributed systems and game dev), and some embedded develop

It will get cancelled just like every other Google project that's not the best in its field. Google can't seem to handle being second best in any project they start, so they use cancelling projects as a way to hide the evidence of

Does anyone have any idea why Uber isn't profitable? I never really understood that. It's such a ubiquitous service in a large portion of the world. It seems to me that they have a lot of physical growth, so what is happening to t

VCs aren't going to invest in a product because some top 10 list on a website says so. They probably consider all the projects individually and choose the ones that are the most likely to succeed. Did you sign a contract with any guara

My coworkers described Unreal vs. Unity in this way and I tend to agree: Unity is easy to pick up but difficult to master, and looks terrible out of the box. Unreal is difficult to pick up and difficult to master, but looks great out of the

Wow this looks awesome, great job! I didn't even know I wanted this until I saw it. I am worried though how memory management is handled under the hood. Is it possible to use traditional C++ memory management with any of the variables

What about recycled plastic? I've seen parks use it well for durable bridges, benches, gazebos, etc. For some reason I haven't seen it used for homes and that confuses me. It seems like a generally durable and even weatherproof ma

Well I guess not damage, but most mobos have an overheat prevention mechanism that will shut the system down at those temps. Can't really use your CPU over 100°C if your motherboard shuts the system off. Sure you can override these in

Damaging temperatures are generally between 90-100°C. Throttling can happen at lower temps and those are usually CPU dependent (and cooler dependent). Also CPUs with less cores handle thermal throttling worse as they have less cores to fall

Generally the time under load is the factor that kills parts, not just time on in general. For example: components that are constantly used for test benches to run benchmarks that pin them to 100% performance constantly will burn out much f

Low wage jobs are miserable to work at and workers are being abused? Reminds me of Amazon Warehouse stories from years ago. I don't think anything really changed there even after they were raked over the coals by the media.
