I use tmux as a persistent terminal multiplexor on a higher-than-preferred latency connection. I'm worried that i3 over VNC would be even slower, but I'm willing to give it a shot. Do you use i3 on a local or a remote Linux machin

Sorry, attempted snark at the version numbering. In all honestly, I think Rust looks quite interesting it's just that I want more experience in Go before I look at anything else.

I've been devoting a lot of my daylight hours to writing Go, but with Rust at 1.7 and Go at 1.6 I may have to rethink that. ;)

If Googlers read HN, and if the rumors of a popular Google-Internal Meme Generator are true, I suspect this problem may go away soon.

Googlers and Xooglers receive no special treatment. No current Googler would risk getting fired to help a Xoogler. No conspiracy theory required.

Adobe FrameMaker and Microsoft Visio, stored in Perforce. Beautiful documents, but it takes a decent chunk of time to create. We do extract some docs via XML to generate code, somewhat backwards from how most engineers merge docs and code.

Hrm, tough question. I heard this advice many years ago, though: What would I do? I'd shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders.

I've used a live-preview app ( http://marked2app.com ) for a few years that I've been happy with for smaller projects, but I really like how they've created a Scrivener-like IDE with integrated source code control.

I wonder if this was mostly a play for power savings? SRAM leakage power can be pretty high (relative to the total power budget) if it can't be powered down during sleep-like modes.

"Here's a resume that looks good, nice experience, exactly what we want. However... they've worked at 4 different companies in the last 7 years. I guess we can assume we'll be interviewing again in 18-24 months."

What's so magical about Obj-C's runtime that this cannot be detected by Apple? If a third-party can scan for them, why can't Apple? If you're going to have a walled garden, by all means please ensure the walls can't
