It's not illegal "because you think its illegal", it's illegal because "you had a court order to provide things that are relevant and you instead hid things you thought were relevant". If I hide someone who I t

I'm sorry, I meant in terms of discussion, not in terms of legal proceedings. Obviously these people were formally charged in a court of law on legal grounds and I assume had their constitutional rights afforded to them. I meant more a

If you're fighting the executive branch, then legality goes out the window and any outrage about punishment becomes moot, no? Expecting the system you intended to subvert/dismantle to save you is a bit of a weird ask.

It is fairly obvious to me that the open models are a form of "dumping" as far as the economics and the desired outcome from China's perspective. They get to watch as the US pours tons of money and talent into an industry, th

Yeah, the rationalization after the fact is kind if absurd. IME, the reasoning underlying tokenmaxxing at the corporate level was "we need to leverage AI as much as possible as fast as possible because we're scared our competitors

When a good's supply is constrained, it becomes a store of value. See: gold. Strangely enough, if housing got built in response to price increases, there would likely be less unused housing, because it would be seen less as a way to st

C code called from other languages has terrible ergonomics. Writing it sucks, debugging it sucks, maintaining it sucks. I don't know if fusion is the solution, but I know C isn't.

"You can't compare academic tests and flight tests because flight tests involve flying" "Academic tests involve academics" "I'm not talking about academics!" That about sum it up?

If you completely ignore costs, and the negative affects of having 50+% of a class be unprepared and taking time from the other students, sure, that would work great. Seems like a bad alternative to standardized tests considering students w

The overwhelming majority of math tests involve doing math, so I'm not sure your critique is useful in this context.

It needs to be maintainable by someone, and AI, left to its own devices, does not write code that is maintainable by AI or humans.

I attempted to build a K8s based image catalog and management system a few years ago, and progress was very slow. Took 2 months to get the first vaporware demo put together. This year I'm building and IoT data management platform and I

You're either using it wrong, or work somewhere that sucks. I'm having a ton of fun coding with AI. I feel like I am learning a whole new branch of the programming skill tree. LLMs and their harnesses are like a mew set of constra

Overlooking was the wrong word. I meant more like downplaying or underestimating. Uber completely changed transportation, and the legal saga that follows shows just how big of a change they made on the world, for better or worse. Likewise w

You're overlooking that net new value was created in both of the scenarios. Don't you have any idea how many family horse businesses went under with the invention of the car? How many artisans wound up broke post-industrialization

Generally < 1 is low, between 1 and 3 is in the middle ground, and > 3 is high. However, that all depends on margins, which is why people generally use P/E or forward P/E rather than P/S to compare multiples. Issue here

P/E is price to earning. Price to revenue is P/S. AER's P/S is like 3, so the discrepancy is much worse than you think. Sidenote: 3 is actually high. 94 is absolutely ridiculous.

We can directly measure the thing we call gravity, so in that sense, it is well understood. We even understand it well enough to make predictions about what it will do under which circumstances. We can't measure consciousness. We can&#

People under 40 have much lower voter turnout than people over 40. 75% of 65+ year olds vote. Less than 50% of 18-25 year olds vote. I wasn't referring to children.
