A friend left his SWE position at Intel(He was part of the Altera acquisition) about 4 years ago. His weeks consisted of answering one email on Monday and working out the rest of the work week because his lead did pretty much nothing, and t

I agree with most of what you said, and do think supply is ultimately the fix, however, we also have to acknowledge the extreme inelasticity of demand for housing, and the massive shoe leather cost, both of which leave consumers at a massi

I don't think they are questioning the status quo tho. They are essentially asking "why be motivated by anything at all". Inevitably, you work in support of an economy, and therefore a nation, so at some point you have to cho

Once we've amassed a volume of artistic media so large that it would take hundreds of human lifetimes to make use of, what is the point? Movies like the matrix have already had an eternal effect on the Zeitgeist of a generation, foreve

Do you have to write your code presuming that sometimes 'a + b' will be wrong? I don't. Software pretty much always "works" when you consider the definition of work to be "does what the programmer told it too&q

A thousand more isn't very much when you consider "Soyuz" (the way you're using it) has been around since the 60s. Falcon 9 had its first flight in... 2010. Id personally rather ride Falcon, but to each his own I guess.

I've made this statement a bunch in other mediums: The reason AI software is always "AI software" and not just a useful product is because AI is fallible. The reason we can build such deep and complex software system is becau

I'd argue that a private company, ran by an immigrant, that started with private capital, carrying out the launches makes it more American than if NASA had done it.

But they can claim, in good faith, that Soyuz is? Im afraid thats not how logic works. Either the error bars are too large to take a position, or they aren't. You can't have it both ways.

Russia != Soviet Union. That being said, they've been using roughly the same vehicle for a very long time (20+ years if you only consider the latest gen Soyuz, much longer otherwise). I would hope it is reliable by now.

This kind of thing is a problem with supplements too. You kind of need to just find a trustworthy brand, by some means, and get it direct. Bad brands make bad stuff, and bad middlemen can mess with their stock, so not much can be done atm.

Kim Dotcom made the mistake of not knowing when to quit. Napster shut down when it got told to shut down. Megaupload hopped around hoping to outsmart the law after it was told to shut down, and the executive branch doesn't let that go.
