You don't need to host a Mastodon instance yourself. Plenty of them are open for registration :) e.g https://masto.ai/ or https://fosstodon.org

It's obvious why the content industry is cracking down on DNS providers. If they succeed, the most likely outcome is overblocking with platforms like Netflix, Disney & Co on a curated whitelist.

Makes sense. MP3 tries to compress without loosing information in the hearable spectrum of a human but that information can still be processed by algorithms.

Syncthing uses the same logic that OP criticized. There is no rendezvous server from a NAT traversal perspective and also no port prediction. All peers simply lookup their external port via STUN and publish this information.

The use case of IPv6 relays isn't that strong to be honest. You don't have to deal with NAT and Syncthing can use UDP hole punching if the firewall doesn't completely block outgoing UDP traffic.
