This thread is the biggest crock of shit. It's a blog post about React, he's obviously not saying "don't use literally any libraries whatsoever". The vast majority of libs that sit on top of React are completely use

Good. Hybrid SSR for everything is the most overengineered bullshit fad I've seen in front end development. The sooner noobs stop cargo culting Next JS the better.

React already has a mechanism for this (Context). It's not the primary reason to use a state management library. Any discussion that doesn't revolve around a difference between the two is akin to suggesting re-implementing a stand

You have no idea what you're talking about. JSX is a line for line transform. It's literally the simplest implementation of templating that's even possible. The next step is just not having any sort of transform or build time

Not really, unless "done right" is for like a 2000 line function or something. If code is running once in order, there's no reason to break it up into functions and take it out of execution order. That's just stupid.

No, they shouldn't look at some of the frameworks. They're all more complex than just making a bog standard SPA, which seems to be working fine for them. People need to stop bringing in that complexity when they don't need se

Assuming you're importing it as a black box abstraction, then absolutely. 'isEven' really shouldn't be a dependency though, either through npm or internally. 'x % 2 === 0' works fine for integers and can be inl

Let's call a spade a spade. It's a bunch of noobs that have become the majority and created a culture of dependency-first development. I haven't worked with anyone for years that doesn't start troubleshooting an issue by

Fixing security issues is nice, how about we go a step further and learn to write a one or two liner instead of inundating every project with 400,000 indirect dependencies?

When people talk about something being simple (or complex), they're talking about how many "things" there are in the concept, rather than how easy or intuitive it is to understand (since that's subjective, as pointed out

The sweet spot is still there, in theory. React itself is just a few functions forming a very simple (but not necessarily intuitive) abstraction. The issue is the community is batshit and it's almost impossible to find or build a team

I've never found this to be much of a problem in good code. API failures in front-end code tend to fall into a couple of buckets that can be abstracted away. If you want to preserve the page and keep retrying with exponential backoff,
