It sounds sad and short sighted to me. Maybe they are turning away volunteers because interest is so high. That would be a rare Open Source project.

Or they might have too short a horizon on measuring the goal. Someone might start contributing later. It's a numbers game. The stable contributor might be something of a unicorn but you have to try to find one.

For a community to thrive it must respect their elders and teach their young. How do you survive in the face of inevitable death if you won't take in more young? Someone has to think past 2038.

Even if the current contributions are slim, wouldn't the long term benefit of perhaps gaining a permanent contributor outweigh the current effort to educate more people?

Reminds me of the story of the manager of CALPERS (California's public workers pension fund). Can't find the article but it focused on how hard work it is for a moneymanager to do nothing. CALPERS is showing good return for it&#

Some areas in the world are in a constant state of war and strife. It's not a matter of logistics or food production. The problem is getting warlords to stop their detrimental activities.

I'm a resident of Iceland. We have had this for our tax returns for at least a decade. We have had electronic returns for longer than that. All I had to do this tax season was add undeclared income and the expenses they incurred and

The worst effects will be felt when the UK is booted from the EU single market. UK trade policy has been based around being an entry point of products from elsewhere into the EU. When that goes poof, a whole lot of trade will go directly

I've been using this exact analogy the other way around about hiring in IT. First screening is usually some HR drone scanning your resume/cv for buzzwords. HR: So, I see on your resume you have been building houses for a decade.

This is a reasoned critique of Boom's plans. Much of what I was criticising was references to Concorde and the Tupalev failure.

The comments are remarkably negative for a can-do crowd of entrepreneurial people. Success is built on a string of multiple failures. I'm rooting for this team to succeed.

I very much doubt that high-level employees are able to inject covert intrusion code without it raising a stink inside the company. If that were the goal then you would want an engineer, not a manager.

And btw. I wouldn't go for cheap for this build. I'm aiming for power and experience. Buying a 4K monitor and maybe VR headgear too.

I'm salivating at the idea of being able to snapshot Windows before doing something quirky and then just being able to revert to a known good setup.

I'd like to see a study on the environmental cost of the materials. Concrete (or rather cement) is one of the dirtiest building material to make.
