I mean, I'm not so much of a programmer as a person that can hack together code. Granted, my job is not 'programmer', it's 'R&D'. For example, I had to patch together some excel files the other day. Data in

I've dug into the studies on the co-sleeping risks. It turns out that co-sleeping is a risky thing if you are on drugs or are drunk . If you are 100% sober, then it's perfectly fine. If you are high, or have had a drink, or are o

I mean, I'm not the lawyer, my brother is. But I'll speculate all the same. I don't think that they are actually doing anything illegal [0]. It seems to be perfectly fine to pilot your boat anywhere you want to. Even if that

I cannot disagree more here. Biology is just astoundingly complicated, especially micro-bio. Lets look at the 'Central Dogma' of biology as a point to focus on a bit. It's the idea of 'information' transfer. DNA get

Just to be clear here, are you talking about the 'left-brain, right-brain' thing? Because I thought that was pretty well debunked. Also, I think you are talking about the corpus callosum for the 'bus' right?

I've worked with Deep Brain Stimulation and other cranial implants before. Mostly on the hardware side and the implantation side. I want to stress that giving a person a few years is a big deal. It's not something to scoff at. E

Aside: I love these 'Time' discussions on HN. Invariably, there is a thread from someone new to the mess that is 'time' that discovers things like leap-seconds or Japanese Imperial Years and is just blown away at the ins

I'm not a carpenter, but my old house was built out of redwood. Never had a problem with it and redwood keeps most of the pests and bugs out. I think that's due to all the tannin in the wood.

I've not seen part 2 yet. But, if they really are making a trilogy and the second part ends on a high note, then classic film-writing tells us that the overall trilogy is bound to be a tragedy not a comedy. The end of the second ac
