My gripe with testing in React has a lot to do with testing in JS in general - it avoids the elephant in the room of how to mock dependencies (whether it be functions, classes, etc.), and control various scenarios so you appropriately unit

Angular 2+ is much better than 1 - it fixes pretty much all of the warts with 1. On the flip side, there are some tradeoffs, some that is not quite Angular’s fault, although they’re tradeoffs chosen by the Angular team in designing the fram

Should be noted that Typescript is slower for bigger apps if you're using Webpack. The whole Typescript & Webpack situation is very sad.

You have to swipe up on the screen to get out of the lock screen when unlocked...so I doubt it'd stop that use case.

There are plenty of other great big tech companies that don’t have as terrible of an interview process and comparable pay. I don’t know if I’ll ever try applying to Google again, especially after landing at one of their largest competitors

Why is it that articles from Hacker Noon are so terrible? One can have a regular job, work hard, and get to enjoy life with flexibility too. There are a ton of bad assumptions/statements in this article.

So you want reviewers to drop what they’re doing and take the time to pull in your changes to fix the typo, break up commit history by adding their change, instead of you fixing the mistake when it’s found, especially if it’s newly introduc

Same, I work for a Fortune 20 and wear my metal shirts to work nearly every day in HQ too - I’m often seen with Maiden, Blind Guardian, Helloween, Nightwish, Dream Theater shirts, amongst others. Turns out a lot more developers in my org ap

I have not had this problem with Safari (at least the latest) - the app I work on is pretty snappy, minus api requests taking some time.

That sounds flawed - IMO the UX should be time based, not pixel based. It turns out when users click, it's often very easy for them to drag their mouse while doing it, 5 pixels sounds like it could still be prone to accidental drags.

Only at the big tech companies in the Bay Area will you get a hefty bonus, and typically generally mainly in the Valley in particular - startups generally don't pay that (occasionally you might find a startup that does 401k match thoug

Glassdoor skews low due to having more historical data. It should be noted that a lot of people also work in the Valley & live in SF since companies there pay more in general (although rent in the Valley has been rising the past few yea

Not only that, there is legal precedent where just the act of software developers discussing IP matters has a negative effect in cases. It absolutely is a matter for lawyers, as the reason they are around is to guard against such pitfalls -

Are you a lawyer? If not, you would be doing a disservice to anyone curious about the topic. My own company's lawyers consider the GPLv3 toxic and not allowed at all for company use in any software we create - that's enough for me

Interestingly, the article points it out how far cellphone cameras have come by comparing shots from just various versions of iPhones and you can see how much better the quality has been getting even just from Apple.
