I would encourage you to download the linked paper and run it thru Claude. I would post results of doing so but that is not allowed here.

you made the decision to start elixir before the rapid recent developments of AI. it's a different world now, and the value that elixir provides relative to another language e.g. python is much different now. it makes far less sense to

Like the other dude said you need a bios. OpenEmu will tell you exactly what files it needs and ask you to drag and drop them into the app window, you'll easily find them on GitHub. Other than that, it has all the emulators you'll

God damn do I love playstation 1. I just dug up my old PS4 controller, installed OpenEmu on my Mac, and started on Silent Hill 1. I used OpenEmu way back in the day, it was the best emulator experience I'd ever had. Glad to see it is a

I agree with everything about what you said. I agree with you that the elderly are unlikely to support young people, unlikely to support immigration, and probably don't like empty schools and dying towns. What I guess they will do is:

The number of young people is thinning out AND the fertility rate remains low, and these have a multiplicative effect. Compounded, they are an oncoming freight train. There are very real, very serious reasons that the fertility rate is low.

> What’s changed that they need immigrants now? What has changed is that the fertility rate dropped dramatically below the replacement rate. Do you understand the consequences of this?

In addition to children making you poorer, our workplaces are filled with people who deeply and visibly detest people who have children for their distraction from Everimportant Work. Everyone sees that, and it shapes their life choices. I f

Assuming Japan and Korea's fertility issues don't self correct (they appear culturally incapable of addressing the root problems that cause them), don't they _have_ to significantly relax immigration policies at some point to

Yeah, I dual boot. I think my efi partition is around 100mb. I forget if Arch puts just one backup kernel in there, but I feel like I saw a lot of garbage in there once that I had to clear out. Maybe that's the problem, will investigat

I've seen that the author of Electric Clojure is pretty involved in the startup scene and I was curious about how those folks perceive the changing world.

I've found that the gap between generative AI's ability to generate code for mainstream languages and niche languages such as Clojure is growing. It is getting much better at generating code for the former, and continuing to floun

My Windows install is stuck in a boot loop like this - it spends 10 minutes trying to update and then fails, except maybe 1/3 times it then boots normally. I don't even try to do anything about it, I just marvel at it.

This thread reminded me to finally try Cody, I've been bouncing on and off Copilot for a few months. I wish I knew how good this was sooner, and I had no idea there was a generous free tier.

You know you are a text editor enthusiast when you spend 60% of your time fiddling with your config, 30% of your time writing about it, and 10% of your time working on something useful/interesting. Just use VS Code.

Would a national debt of $0 be a point where the debt is a full-on crisis? Would a national debt of $999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999 be a point where the debt is a full-on crisis? If only there were some kind of conclusion we could draw

I remember reading geohot advocate for 7900XTX as a cost effective card for deep learning. I read AMD is backing off from the high end GPU market, though. Is there any chance they will at least continue to offer cards with lots of VRAM?
