Hi Andy Is 50/hr that low? I know it isn't the US rate, but getting even 30 USD/hr here is hard (that's why I'm trying to focus more internationally and thus the need to do portfolio work as much of my apps are in the local app store).

Well, if you ever need a dev for $50/hr you know where to find one ;) Seriously though, while not from India or Pakistan, I still live in a low-cost country (Portugal) compared to most of the USA or UK. $50/hr affords me a good quality of l

Thanks for the reply! I guess that is actually what I'm asking. At HN, seems there are more people requiring Rails/web devs, but outside, seems iOS devs are more in demand. Right now and in all honesty, my main concern is supporting my fami

I'm reading the Power of Habit and the author mentions AA. According to the theory of the book, for habits (drinking) to change permanently, people have to believe in something. According to the author, that ingrained belief of AA is what m

Actually, and that is my point entirely, luck isn't the word. I have shitty genetics (I think on both sides, for the last 2-3 generations my family has been overweight/obese). Heck, during my wife's pregnancy there were complications, and d

I'm not saying that eating 300kcal over daily maintenance everyday would not make you fat. What I'm saying is that I really doubt the most of the people that are overweight/obese are eating according to what a BMR calculator says and becaus

At the risk of repeating my self, the F- Off would still stand. It is illegal to 'threaten' someone like that here. Sure, many people would cave and do it and that's why many employers still have this stupid mentality, but taking in account

According to the study, only 26.7% difference wasn't explained by age/sex/weight. Which means for almost 75% the values were somehow dependent on sex/age/weight. And the difference between the top 5% and bottom 5% of the outliers was around

I work for a competitor of Rdio/Spotify/etc. At least, in our case, the record labels (at least two of the majors) are quite strict and we had to go through a whole validation process to prove it wasn't easy to download the songs playing. N

Not sure about Europe, but Portugal has all kinds of laws that says you can't sign your rights away in any contract (contract is declared void if it goes against this and as such, initial rights prevail)
