What workers did the UK say Airbnb is exploiting?

by BMorearty 6y ago
Drives me nuts too. When someone does that to me, I ignore them.

In Airbnb’s case their hand was forced. RSUs given to employees in 2014 are going to expire if Airbnb waited til 2021.

So…you’re saying it’s Airbnb’s fault that someone punched you in the face and that’s why they should pay? The person who really ought to pay is the guy who punched you in the face. Unless you deserved it but I’m giving you the benefit of th

My experience has been really different from yours. After my first stay in an Airbnb five years ago I learned I needed to be more careful about reading the reviews and the descriptions. Since then I’ve only had positive experiences. The pla

I agree about Brave. Don’t understand why people seem excited about it.

I love Send too! Didn’t know they took it down.

Not bad. I’ve been using the Svelte plugin by Tomasz Błachut. But I don’t think the plugin supports TypeScript yet.

Not only is this a wonderful CSS technique for getting the correct margins on embedded divs, but it illustrates the value of good names. “Lobotomized owl operator” is a perfect and memorable name for * + *.

Haha, I never expected to see Kinnie on HN. My wife's parents are American immigrants from Malta. I tried Kinnie when we visited Malta. Not personally a fan. I think it's an acquired taste.

Hooray! I am so happy to see this. Like the author, I’ve been hoping for skeuomorphic design to return ever since it went out of vogue. I honestly didn’t expect it to happen. I thought Apple would go even farther away from it, eventually re

The crime problem non-whites have is cops committing crimes against them and getting away with it.

Disclaimer: I only read the subject line and the first paragraph. Years ago, when Internet Explorer had market dominance, I was working on a website and I wanted to use a feature that IE didn’t support yet. I asked a question on a forum abo

I was with you until the "SJW nonsense" bull. What exactly does social justice have to do with any of this?

Absolutely right. In my marriage we never sat down and talked about not joking about divorce, but after 25 years it's evident we both know that's the rule.

TL;DR mostly a bunch of promises about policies they're going to review. Few decisions made yet. But I do appreciate "Your lives matter. Black lives matter."

Absolutely right. I believe in unions. But unions don't exist to protect and reinstate members who have abused their power or committed crimes on the job. And that's what police unions have a pattern of doing.

Yeah, I always tell people to beware of hosts who cancel on their guests. You can easily see if they do, by looking at the reviews. Whenever a host cancels on a guest an automated review is posted that says "This host canceled a reserv

Never rent from strict-policy hosts and your cancellation rate will never be ridiculous. I'm a flexible-policy host.

Nice idea. The JetBrains family of IDEs (RubyMine, IntelliJ, etc.) even have this as a built-in TODO panel that shows files with TODO and FIXME comments (syntax is configurable).

If you clicked on the article, that's all the author needed. And to get you to click, all they needed was a catchy headline. It's the unfortunate reality of modern journalism. See the book "Trust Me, I'm Lying" by R
