I also see how Brave likes to thrive on anti-Google pro-privacy camp and I personally pick Firefox over Brave any day if the week. There is de-Googled Chromium OS project, but Brave takes a few steps sideways by making further changes such

FourSquare could have been this, when they were good. They have many restaurants, photos, tips, photos of the paper menu, etc. Google Maps caught up and it, and from places I have been in Europe, Asia, and middle East, their photos, review,

I thought that's what they were doing (I'm a consumer and not a restaurant owner). Hopefully at least Uber is burning VC money and not undercutting restaurant owners.

I was in India last month, and ordered food with Zomato and Uber Eats many times. Both Uber and Zomato have a lot of promotions and the food price is often 60% of what it would have costed if I were to fine-in (I walked into same restaurant

This would allow spammers to evade the rules all the same. For anything that is standardized or agreed upon, we can of course have packages like this. Time zone data (tzdata), IP Geolocation databases, etc.

I'm a full-time freelancer and I travel for about 8 months every year. I can relate to the mindset of the author. As much as we like to _think_ of working at a beach or next to a waterfall, it's not really that practical. Sometime

Airport hotels fall into this category. There are some airport hotels near Singapore and Kuala Lumpur that are super quiet, and has tiny rooms with nothing but walls, a comfy bed, and a mini bathroom kit.

You have to be a verified publisher. There was a whole story about Tom Scott (English YouTuber) rightfully tweeting about it. Brave changed themselves after to not collect donations for unverified publishers.

People can and will cherry-pick the stats. A more meaningful stat would have been the percentage of ad code (JS, images, god forbid flash files, etc)

I'm a publisher relying on ad revenue, and I hate Brave. It's not because it blocks my ads (I also contribute to an ad blocker list myself), but because Brave can swap my ads with its own. This is theft! Brave is similar to Opera.

I've been blogging low-key for 7 years now, and there are many pieces I feel embarrassed about today, and sometimes that are even downright wrong. But a habit of writing reduces the friction and helps in the thought process. Some of th

I think there will be more demand once people realize there are other options. I saw a post on HN a few days about someone starting a small ISP in NYC. I suppose NYC market is saturated as it can get. One interesting I ran across is how mou

Similar to GUI apps that work on top of git binary, does anyone know a user friendlier CLI app? It can have new commands: - `gitlite create` vs `git init` - `gitlite branch create feature-dom` vs `git checkout -b feature-dom` - `gitlite tim

It is quite possible to setup a global CDN overnight. Spin nginx reverse proxies in all AWS, Digital Ocean, and Linode POSs, and you'd have a good enough network. Throw Inna control panel and you got yourself a contender in the budget
