We have been using HipChat for the last two years for one of our two major products at work and have very recently moved to Slack for the other. While notifications on HipChat work most of the time, they are still very patchy. I personally

I agree. For programming related use-cases, having multiple terminal windows can be very helpful. From a systems and networks administration perspective, I am not so sure, particularly when you can have simultaneous (SSH) sessions open to m

With the exception of one or two, everybody was running terminals across multiple windows and not tabs. I spend considerable time on terminals on my Macs, but am a big fan of having a single terminal window with many tabs. I am curious whet

They don't mention otherwise but do we know if the attack has happened again since 1 December?

Paternity leaves and the option to share leaves with a spouse are the way forward. I wish companies in the country where I work took a more liberal view towards leave policies.

Yup. I consider SQLAlchemy heavy-duty. For light use, Peewee is extremely easy to use and quick to set up.

The only thing I use, and pay, Evernote for is digitising printed receipts and similar documents, managing which otherwise I find troublesome. The document photo taking features which make taking pictures of receipts easier is pretty nice,

What a powerful piece. I will die one day with all of those regrets if I don't do anything about it. Why does living have to be so hard?

I cannot help but wonder at the timing of this revelation, coming almost on the heels of Seymour Hersh's essay last week. It was shocking for me to read about the alleged scandal, but for many, it's hardly news.

Ah, Free Pascal. It made me remember the first semester at my University where everywhere I looked I found Microsoft. I refused to do assignments and projects on Windows, preferring instead Linux (Slackware, then). In the first semester we

I have felt that certain dairy products do trigger the migraine. However, milk itself doesn't cause it. I also drink milked-tea regularly without any headaches/migraines.

Yes. Only, I have never been a habitual drinker of coffee. When I started drinking regularly for a short period, I stopped once I noticed the pattern. For me, cheese and chocolate, as well, triggers a migraine.

Oh. I think I have a sensitivity to caffeine, because drinking coffee causes an onset of a migraine that I don't like when I'm writing code or managing systems.

Absolutely lovely advice! For me, it was tennis. I started playing and fell in love with it. It all began when I was working from home for a startup in another country. I would work and in the evenings, I would quietly slip out to the court

A number of ISPs over here (PK) preposterously block gDNS (as well as OpenDNS). What's rather ironic is that they only block UDP requests to gDNS, and not TCP (`dig @8.8.8.8 google.com +tcp`). It's ludicrous, but that's how i
