Yes, above 5-6 diopters is considered high myopia, since that's where the risks for retinal detachment, glaucoma, etc. already increase significantly due to the elongated eyeball. With high myopia, the vertex distance [0] starts to pla

Did I miss it in the article or was there no mention of where the cutoff is for "big" businesses? Or does it apply to all businesses?

I think you could do enough fingerprinting (via otherwise harmless functions) to identify users even without access to the advertising ID (that requires the tracking permission).

3rd party stores on Android are disadvantaged in some ways, e.g. no automati app updates. That makes things quite annoying for the user.

This process seems to be available to regular apps too now. When Apple rejects an update, they ask whether it's a bug fix update you need approved quickly. If yes, you can resolve the identified issues with the next update. They starte

Probably a german address in the imprint. I can't imagine they'd bother with anyone abroad. They're just after easy money after all.

Lots of recommendations for Zenni here, which is excellent. I'll go ahead and recommend AliExpress if you want the absolute cheapest. You can get everything from very basic (usually ~$5 for same strength on both eyes, ~$15 for differen

Only for app updates in my experience. Publishing new apps takes ~7 days for years now. If I remember right, it started with Covid but it never improved.

Your first and second sentence made me laugh out loud because I thought it was a joke. The explanation makes perfect sense though - buy and hold beats the average attempt at market timing.

You really need something like sentry to report all unhandled exceptions. I learned that lesson when I realized everyone on Safari couldn't use my website (submit forms) because a feature I used wasn't supported on Safari. Easy wa

I saw an article on HN a while ago about services that sell Amazon user e-mails - basically Amazon employees leaking data, such as here: https://techcrunch.com/2020/01/10/amazon-employees-email-add...

Preventing JS injection would make lots of legitimate use cases impossible. I really hope Apple doesn't punish all developers for Facebook's actions.

I hate that Facebook has to abuse the freedom of injecting Javascript into WebViews. This is why we can't have nice things. I fear that this will lead to an overreaction from Apple that results in blocking or severely limiting this fea

My ad account got randomly shut down a few days ago too. Was reapproved after review but never was I given a reason. I hate that big companies can get away with this.

Ah you're right it's section 4.2.6. Interesting point that it's not a restriction for all app creators but just more commercialized services.

My mistake - just read up on it again and Google only prohibits WebView apps of websites you don't own. I guess that explains why I never had trouble publishing apps there!

You're correct, the end users are the ones who want a "real app". One of the most successful websites that I turned into an app [0] had users constantly asking the owner for an app. There was already a PWA and guide on how to

I agree with this. The harder the thing is you're doing, the bigger your moat. Ideally it shouldn't be too hard for you though of course, e.g. because you have prior knowledge about it.
