I run Arch on a Surface Pro 7, (ironic, I know), which has a HiDPI display and the experience is good for me under GNOME, even fractional scaling is supported. One thing to keep in mind is that Windows/Mac/Linux do render fonts di

This is what I tell every macOS user looking to try Linux. Pick hardware that is officially supported. In every Linux thread on HN, macOS fans seem to disregard the fact that Linux has to support so many more hardware configs entirely. In f

I've seen the same. In fact my Arch Linux laptop seems way more dependable than my 2016 MBP, so much so I switched my work MBP for an Arch setup too. I'm actually seriously thinking of replacing macOS with Windows on the MBP, whic

It matters because while most of the blame is on CDPR some should go to players pre-ordering without realizing that getting such a massive game to run well on a 7 year old PC is not realistic. PC gamers would not expect this to run on such

I am nearly at the end on Stadia and other than the occasional floating NPC I haven't experienced bugs. So experiences seem to vary quite a bit, they're far from universal.

I find the strong backlash weird considering how customer-friendly CDP generally is and how well regarded Sky rim, a vastly buggier game from a predatory company, is.

Agreed, but I think that's not entirely on them, but rather the wider JVM & mobile dev ecosystems. Still better than XCode which regularly looses syntax highlighting for no reason in 2020.

AWS etc. already offer these services so the risk is low. I dislike the recent trend of companies changing licenses from a formerly FLOSS solution to "source available". It prevents little in practice and makes it so that your ori

There's some kind of longstanding bug with non-default scaling on Mac apparently. It's great on Linux, but it's hard to get Mac friends to switch over.

It's worth noting that the Chinese state is able to pool resources and direct a national effort in a way countries like Japan and the U.S. are not. It may take longer than 10 years but they'll get there.
