I purchased four used, like new smart plugs from Amazon Warehouse Deals a few days ago. Two were the wrong model in the right box and were very clearly used. One even had a scorch mark on it. I’ve had similar experiences with other Amazon p

Just a few weeks ago, you could buy a brand new Model 3 in the US for ~$30k with incentives. I don’t consider that to be particularly expensive for a new vehicle.

Superficially at best. It’s improving, but support for prefix delegation is nonexistent on the firewall side.

Genuinely sad to hear. His wit and sage advice will be missed. For anyone who has the means to visit a Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholder meeting, it's worth it at least once.

The lower end models do, but my "new" (refurbished) HL-L8360CDW does not.

TN43x cartridges don't have the DRM chip, thankfully. They still sell printers that use them. Such printers cost a bit more than Brother's base models but to me, it was worth the extra.

This model's toner is trivially reset with a one-time purchase of a $2 reset gear or a button press combo. The reviewer must not be aware of this. There's also a fill port right on this printer's starter cartridges. Brother e

I just bought a refurbished HL-L8360CDW, a current model. It reads a physical toner reset gear on each cartridge. Resetting the toner is a matter of adding a missing gear (starter cartridges) or turning it to the reset position (retail cart

I agree, which is why I cancelled my Premium subscription when all this started. I’m not interested in paying Google to degrade the viewing experience for everyone else.

In what way is a credit monitoring app (Credit Karma) a viable alternative to a budgeting app (Mint)?

Add in some moderate packet loss and you’ve got CenturyLink fiber.

My SDXL workflow was often spilling over my RTX 3080’s 10GB of VRAM into system RAM. I’ve since tweaked my workflow to prevent that, as the slowdowns are dramatic. Tiled VAE encode/decode was a big help.

My work machine, a Precision 5550 (XPS 15) has never been able to reliably wake from sleep. Ubuntu, Pop!_OS, Windows 11- it doesn’t matter.

It’s certainly divisive. I was never the slightest bit interested in the Mustang brand until the Mach-E. That brand is now more valuable to me. For those on the other side, I agree that “all press is good press”.

I had an X220t once. It was a great machine, but I kept my W500 instead. The latter is even better built and easier to disassemble. I like its keyboard quite a bit more as well. To me, the T/Wx00 line was the last of the best the brand

Some specific Ubiquiti gear uses Cavium SOCs, but certainly not all. The UDM Pro uses an Annapurna Labs SOC and my old EdgeRouter-X was Mediatek.

In theory you could use one of those Leviton British-style receptacles designed for US-style boxes on a dedicated 240V circuit. In practice, NEC code likely prohibits you from doing this.

An Asian style water boiler maintains the temp just below boiling, so there isn’t any reboiling throughout the day. Think of it as a water boiling thermos. You’re meant to replace the water daily. Not sure how many follow that guideline. ET

I’ve had a 4L Zojirushi boiler in the US for about 15 years now. This is the best solution for those who complain about 120V kettles.

I found building rules around a dynamic prefix to be simple enough on my old EdgeRouter once I found the poorly documented magic incantation to do so. It isn’t possible on the UniFi system that replaced it. Who needs basic core functionalit

This is great to hear. We have CenturyLink fiber installed to our home but we don’t use it. They’re a truly incompetent company and I hope they get bought out by someone that can actually run an ISP. Community ownership would be even better
