Sadly it's wrong. My gripe with it is that it presents countersteering as necessary , while it's just a technique to more quickly initiate a turn. Basically by steering right while leaning left, then snapping the handlebars to th

You can also say that strict aliasing is incompatible with the original design of C (i.e. it's a huge mess). We should have never had undefined behaviour in C to begin with, that should have been a separate language (possibly one that

Twitter has already booted former president of the USA Donald Trump due to similar conduct. As they say, with great power, comes great responsibility. Twitter have shown themselves willing to wield their power for the good of the USA, thus

That's fine. Define it as saturating on those architectures. Just being defined as "this never happens" is hugely detrimental to predicting how you're program behaves.

Personally, I choose to just write non-standard C and turn on my compiler's option to define signed overflow as wrapping. Note that without that option, multiplication of unsigned shorts is undefined on platforms where sizeof(unsigned

The numbers used in computing systems are normal mathematical numbers in the Z_2^32 field. The signed ones are shifted by half the range in the negative direction. There is nothing un-mathematical about them, people who have studied any mat

What do you think about separating author's rights from copyright? That is, separate the right to distribute copies from the right to make derivatives?

Shadow of Mordor was pretty great. But executives seem to be swayed too much by people who wish to make yet another Marvel movie with a political message pushing values that were adopted by the majority back in the '70s. There are many

I've used IDEs, but just keep ending up using vim. With fzf, ctags, clangd and YouCompleteMe, it's a very productive tool for C++. The two things I really miss from Visual Studio are the easy project setup - writing cmake by hand

Congratulations! #embed is a very useful feature. If I may gripe about C for a bit though. I do truly appreciate C's portability. It's possible to target a very diverse set of architectures and operating systems with a single sour

Clang, MSVC and GCC all have options to turn off various flavours of UB, or rather to define the behaviour in those cases. I strongly suggest using -fwrapv -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-delete-null-pointer-checks (and the equivalent in MSVC) in

You could store a bit of metadata per password. Like an additional salt that you change every time you have to change the password, plus any requirements for generating it. Of course then it is using a kind of a vault.

The comparison is not the way you'd expect. Index j goes past index i, but the comparison doesn't change. What you propose is a condition more like if ((a[i] < a[j]) != (i < j)) swap(a, i, j) ; Which obviously works
