GVim does have a menu which lists the commands next to the menu options. That's one area in which I feel neovim has regressed -having a default built-in discoverable interface. The various GUIs on offer for it seem aimed at the expert

How I've dodged that in the decades of using vim, I don't know. Though these days I roll with space for entering command mode, so the danger is nil. nnoremap <space> : Has done wonders for my fingers.

Back when GLib was written, compilers didn't do anything fancy with code like this, so this was a completely reliable way to trigger a segmentation violation. As always, even though the standard says you should not do that, people writ

And even if you want to do some kind of single-object build for your utility libraries to speed up linking, you can always include the .c file in some big master .c file.

In Europe you usually have a 1-3 month probationary period that works more or less like "at-will" employment does in the USA. Either party can cancel the contract on the spot for any reason or no reason at all. There are also some

Have you tried splitting the area covered by each shape into several 8x8 pixel rectangles, then running a compute shader over each one that executes the exact same rasterisation algorithm as Flash did? That's more or less how triangles

We don't have Czech letters on our keyboards. That is pretty much the entire reason - it's hard to impossible to type these characters on a standard US QWERTY keyboard, so we don't. Plus the DOS systems will probably balk at

If I'm not wrong, Ukrainian just has "ï" - lowercase i with diaeresis, which is just a Latin letter. Not sure I would call it an addition to the Cyrillic alphabet per se vs an adoption of a latin letter into the Ukrainian alp

Having the grounds for maybe getting a remedy is strictly better than not having it. It could be a lot better, but if we could have that first step of the government having (de jure) inviolable restrictions, it would be quite nice.

Or you know, just turn off UB. I don't know why C still has this, it was useful when we had truly exotic architectures with sign bits &c, but these days it is doing way more harm than good.

You can get 99% of the way there with -fno-delete-null-pointer-checks -fno-strict-aliasing -fwrapv . Pretty much every program I've worked on uses those flags, as that's the only way to keep your sanity.

Basically, the compiler implements integer addition using an operation that doesn't match the semantics of integer addition in the standard, then hallucinates that it did. That is: 1) The compiler sees an expression like "a += b;&

I really wish both would be valid in C11. Or rather I wish I had "systems-C" where all the undefined behaviour added for high performance computing was filed off and defined as "whatever the platform does".
