You only become a Verdachtsfall when your organization is deemed to want to dismantle the state, get rid of rule of law or want to erase basic human rights.

last time i checked, the glibc allocator doesnt ask the OS that often for new heap memory. Like, every ~thousand malloc calls invoked (s)brk and that was it.

I got a “expensive” renewable only energy plan and it’s 31,4 cents per kilowatt hour in Germany. Conventional ones should be cheaper. So no idea where you got 40 cents from.

Nuclear is the answer to no problem we face currently. It’s expensive, slow to build new plants (decades). It’s also not flexible in the way it’s useable. Solar + battery storage on the other hand is super fast and easy to build, costs virt

I’m, after 10 years of building a eco system of around 40 extensions for mruby, at the stage to start my first project using them.

I’m currently hacking away at a project which turns your keyboard into a clipboard manager, password vault and barcode reader as parts of it. I just need to come up with a better name than totally normal keyboard (:

Hm, I only miss one thing, sorting by price with shipping cost. Can’t see anything else that was removed, just changed.

That's a good question, without looking into any of the code id say bandwidth cost goes higher when moving away from server side rendering since you have to send the code for client side rending to each client which connects.

there is just one catch. Using the feature to let io_uring handle buffers for you limits you to the mem lock limit of a process, which is 8MB on a typical debian install (more on others) And that's a hard limit unless you got root acce

if you want c extensions to get (de)optimized at runtime based on their usage patterns there is always ruby on graalvm from oracle.

Depends how you use it, just last week I’ve hit 40 nanoseconds unpacking a 8 megabyte msgpack array and accessing one of its values in a hash. As long as you only use ruby as glue code for c(++) extensions it’s pretty fast.

I’ve tried to write something similar for mruby, saw the 90% performance hit compared to just using callbacks and never released it as a mgem.

Nissan hat the e-POWER system where a petrol engine is just used to recharge the battery of your electric car and nothing else. In theory they could run that petrol engine at the sweet spot where it produces the least amount of carbon emiss

Are you saying it’s impossible to misuse disabling the accept syscall but it’s prone to misconfiguration with disabling io_uring_enter?

There should be no issue with disabling it altogether by banning its setup and usage syscalls.

Great, their new devices actually work in thread mode with HA, but their older ones only when you got an Apple hub device. I’ve got 6-7 of their devices before matter was a thing and 0 work with HA. Even those that got firmware updates.

They work without issues Ine HomeKit mode. With thread/matter only Apple got the keys or whoever paid them to get them. Also: the Apple home app can’t change their mode to matter, you have to do that in home assistant.

Buy a device from the manufacturer “Eve” try to add it to homeassistant after upgrading its firmware to use matter/thread: no can do, they don’t give you their key to talk to their devices.

You can’t talk to other devices unless you got the private key of them.
