More like just 1 year later even if you just store it unused, considering typical battery degradation.

That's almost like saying that with 2 registers you can only do additions with 2 operands. True, but missing the picture. The number of segments is not limited by the number of segment registers, or even (gasp!) by the number of segmen

I think you are missing the entire point of the article (which I kinda agree with), and just repeating the popular wisdom. In the era a machine with "object addressing" sounded like a perfectly valid futuristic design (what a Lisp

I'll note that OpenSuse also has Packman which a shitton of people enable (for codecs), has also 'one namespace only' an looser policies than the main distro. I do not think this something you can escape by switching distro.

I am using 10G over an ~15m 4 twisted pair phone cable (PTT, common in France even decades ago for ISDN, but no cat cable at all) and don't remember seeing a frame lost in quite some years.

No, the transceivers get hot. This is because of plenty of small metal surfaces, so even if they do not consume too much they will immediately get warm to the touch.

"High power consumption" is debatable, since even these hot transceivers are consuming about 3W, and the replacement ones are closer to 1W. At 1W per port, the switch you'll put them in likely has higher overhead... It is dif

Just one? Even your standard Linux install will contain a couple dozen such fonts. Most likely, the goal here was copyright laundering.

The analogy falls apart very quickly. Without the training data, your modifications amount to virtually nothing compared to what these "versions" are, and the idea that you can maintain and improve on these models without the cont

On this very thread you already have people talking about "open weights" and similar nonsense. What is open about them? They're free to download, but that hardly qualifies as open. Where is the source? Where are the instructi

You cannot use zones for global addresses, so zones are indeed mostly a feature of link-local addresses only.

Espressif products are not ideal for Bluetooth audio since support for classic Bluetooth (which is what is still mostly used for Bluetooth audio) is hit or miss , and on newer models often entirely missing.

I was not aware that _any_ Espressif hardware even supported classic bluetooth other than the very first ESP32 (which I am not sure if they're even available). And I was getting around 50ms latency back then (with the original ESP32 an

I have been rocking _smaller_ tablet PCs with better reparability score than the Neo in iFixit since practically the 2010s. My current one is a 10/10 from HP. This to say nothing about upgradability. The Neo doesn't clear the bar

In the 2000s SC4 was already using 3DS Max, but here we are talking about a game that started development in 97. And they already had 3D games before it... In SC3k sprites you can also clearly see two different grid sizes, so at the very le

You're describing SimCity 4, not SimCity 3000. The SC3k tool is not entirely 2D, but it does mostly behave like one (with emulated voxels instead of pixels). And while I cannot confirm what Maxis was doing internally, I am quite sure n

I am annoyed that they just claim that "reverse engineering" will take care of this, instead of really trying to fight back legally. This is a social problem, and reverse engineering can only help up to a point.
