90% of all safety critical software is written in c/c++ There is no good safety language right now to write a browser in, except for c/c++. Rust might sound like an alternative but it's safety story is sad when compared to c&

Because writing a browser in ATS or Frama-C is not possible. Or writing it in Coq and exporting it to ocaml and friends. Ada can be used but its mediocre at best and sucks at places where frama-C shines. A lot of pointer stuff that is easi

The way zig is designed, I think it will be fairly easy to embed Ada's Spark like proof system in it.

formalized subsets of x86 assembly exist. Coq can be used as a macro assembler. tools to work with llvm ir exist, x86 can be raised up to llvm ir and proved, kinda bad way tho.

aw hell yeah, something like this could be ridiculously useful. Been playing with my own interactive low level language[glorified forth, dont wanna touch C and friends again.] and something like this would make life super easy.

Is Ada really as good as its touted to be? How good is the cross compilation, metaprogramming and FFI story?

If a Forthlike language was to be made today, what features would it require to not be a hard-to-read mess? I can see some type of typesystem being useful, I dont know what else can make it better.

It is all number or pointer all the way down but that's not the best interface to interact the computer with.

Hello from Delhi, India. I dont have much going on in my life, 11th grade exams are on top soo I can barely find much time. One thing that I am really passionate about is concatenative programming and how it can be used as a better way to p

Ooooh nice!!! That is amazing but how viable is common lisp for low level programming. Instead of embedding CL, what about a DSL that creates binaries, does something like this exist?

Interactive extensible low level programming languages no one is trying to do this, forth exists but its one of the only attempts that is successful and still its ugly as hell. Sure you can use lisp to do everything but its horribly clunky

obviously no, we dont care about a language that was once used in a machine specifically for it, cuz we cant go in past and program in that specific machine. i think ive realised what is up with lisps, forths, etc. theoretically you can bui

unfortunately yes, it somewhat is, but the devs try to maintain extremely readable source, not the best thing but i think its really good and important cuz its the best example of good zig code and might teach you a bit or two like i learnt

yes, our first priority is stage2, after that, we might deal with stdlib. Andrew is going to go through the stdlib before the 1.0 release.
