One of my close friends joined the team as a programmer not long ago, and he's said that since then the team has grown massively. Say what you will about their way of investment (ridiculously overpriced ships and whales throwing ten&#x

I've played all his games and they're all fantastic. EXAPUNKS is probably my second favourite, but I'm an EE engineer so SHENZEN I/O is especially satisfying to me. Zachtronics games are my vice. As a recovering self-con

SHENZEN IO was my favourite by a mile. Although looking through a datasheet half-written in Mandarin to understand what was going on, at 2am, to then go into work at 6am and look through more datasheets half-written in Mandarin - well, I sw

Not OP but from my experience with government workers in the UK, who routinely work the same job from leaving school until retirement, their time spent there seems to be inversely proportional to the quality and quantity of their work. If I

And yet Hammond thought it was quite appropriate to recently raise the 40% tax cut-off to £50k [1] giving an average increase of £390 a year to that bracket, a 1% cut in corporate tax [2], and all the while overall funding for the police ha

I did call through 101. I was only roughly summarising what they said. I asked if they would come around to inspect the damage and I think the exact reply was something along the lines of "Unfortunately we can only do police call outs

They won't even investigate if you've lost something now. I had my shed recently broken into, and multiple tools stolen. Their response was "This isn't an emergency. We don't have the resources to follow this up. I

This seems like an American phenomenon. I'm planning on handing in a notice soon, and from asking around it seems like 4 weeks minimum is the standard in the UK. A 2 weeks notice only happens when you leave on really unfriendly terms.

I think in part it's due to very few native English speakers being multi-lingual. Rudely correcting someone on their second-language is a faux-pas for most people in the UK. From my experience, people will try to be helpful and constru

My attitude is, do everything I can and take personal responsibility for everything I do. If in 50 years we've reached the tipping point, at least I won't be filled with regret of things I could have done differently. Blaming corp

My parents, baby boomers themselves, are starting to see the effects of this. Funeral after funeral of friends and family dying in their early to late 60's - almost always due to heart disease, liver failure or some sort of cancer. Eve
