No, the farmer is obviously not going to do this "just because". But if there's a market for organic produce sold to consumers at a markup, why wouldn't there be a market for something like this? Ag is regulated, for sur

The environmental argument is huge, though. And there must be some monetary value in being able to sell your product as X% more environmentally friendly?

There is no "the way to solve climate change" anyway. It's a challenge so huge that it will require us to change something about everything we do and the way we do it.

A thousand small changes add up, however. Also, don't forget how those companies responsible for all those emissions make stuff that we eagerly buy up. The emissions are "their", but really on our behalf. And I'm well aw

Long Covid should be taken very seriously, but my understanding is that it is milder and less prevalent among the vaccinated. I don’t know if the hard figures “justify” something like a zero-Covid policy

This is a consequence of China’s zero-Covid policy. Nationally, the instruction is to eliminate outbreaks, even of new and milder variants. Leading up to the party congress local authorities appear to have reported inaccurately low numbers

It's far from certain that would fix the issue, though. If the problem is some edge case problem with the connection, what's to say it couldn't happen under standard load?

The supply shock has occurred. What's happening now is a process of adaptation, which will go on for months, if not years. Higher costs will certainly see changes in industry. But I fail to see how this article exhibits normalcy bias

If the company wants to encourage "above and beyond" performance, they should do that through a bonus. In all scenarios I'm familiar with, shares vesting are tied to duration at the firm, i.e. loyalty and "toughing it ou

The employee spent the time at the firm that it took for the vest to happen. That time is mostly already served. Yanking the promised reward like that does not send a good signal to the rest of the staff. If the employee was so bad they sho

IMO it does not send that message. The vesting is compensation for work done and time spent in the role. That is in the past. The "punishment" is losing the job, and that message is clear enough.

Regulation is short-sighted? You say this in a world that's burning up because no one imposed on emitters the cost of the externalities of those emissions... Now that is short-sighted.
