Check your extensions and privacy settings. Firefox is more aggressive in blocking trackers and that does break some authentication flows that involve trackers. You can always disable some of those protections to get the website to work,

I find these ideas very interesting! Maybe HN is not suitable for such long threads, but we have an online forum where we talk about such ideas and I think people would be interested to discuss what you've written here. Shoot me an ema

How about it being a language that is not new, runs on your own machine same way it does on the server, and is debuggable?

I'm curious, what startup that is? FWIW, I think there is a large opportunity here (make sync+collab easy => ecosystem of products that tightly sync) that can be disruptive to many SaaS businesses. I'm keeping an eye on Croquet

I think it's about delaying the side-effect until `transaction.commit()`, and implementing as much of the business-logic as possible to happen inside the transaction. Virtual worlds (a model of the real world) could also be useful. Lik

Synchronization is still an open problem. CRDTs for example are still evolving fast [0]. I'd imagine the idea would be more doable when the underlying sync primitives mature. Immutability is a different beast, but it appears that dece

I agree. Though not sure about the non-Turing-complete-ness. How about each agent has a budget. Agents that blow the budget get dropped. Like this: https://gist.github.com/AriaMinaei/69e1a9166e7ffbd61e7f6709d...

I think at a minimum, agents are programs that clients submit to the server. The server runs the agent with a very limited API and likely as a pure function (lang could be JS or wasm maybe). The agent could run in response to events on the

Maybe agents could create rest endpoints of their own with its own cache? Edit: Just wrote some pseudo code: https://gist.github.com/AriaMinaei/69e1a9166e7ffbd61e7f6709d...

A few ideas to put out there: 1. Emphasize synchronization over imperative API calls. Imperative APIs encourage data silos. They are the underlying technical part of the problem that Zapier and ITTT try to solve. See [0] and [1] for some

I had that same reaction towards lisp. Not sure which flavor it was, but when I first saw it 10 years ago or so, the syntax put me off so hard that I wrote the whole thing off. Didn't look at another lisp for a few years, until I came

You are being incharitable in reading the comment. Sandboxing and capabilities are buzzwords now? And meaningless? I'm happy to explain more if you frame your question (for which you seem to already have an answer) less combatively.

One idea I don't see discussed is that the App Store model is a disincentive for Apple to come up with better sandboxing and security. Apple is in fact uniquely positioned to introduce a better sandboxing model. They control most of th

You’re missing the point. It is one thing for a small percentage of websites obfuscating their code and assets in zip files, but it’s a whole other thing if the practice is standardize and a large number of websites move to implement it.

This isn’t about not wanting to pay. It’s about being forced to use a tool in spite of much better possible alternatives. If apple allowed SSL-style certification, I’m sure cheaper and better alternatives (similar to LetsEncrypt) would prop
