Lifetimes are an interesting illustration. They are conceptually surprisingly simple (they draw regions in time and check if one region is clearly smaller than another), but as a language feature very weird, as they are essentially a declar

(For context: I teach Rust since 2015) Rust is "simple" in that it is based on a few solid principles. Data with layout, Ownership of the data and the distinction between sharing and mutability (through immutable references and mu

Well, this is always a tradeoff: the cost of being away from the mainstream may outweigh familiarity with a programming language at some point. I'm not sure if the argument for "HTML+JS+CSS" is purely familiarity, there'

The biggest problem here is that in Android, Java "owns" the app, so you will have to invert a lot of lines to make "develop a whole app in Rust" feel awesome. But, TBH, I think Kotlin and Java are _indeed_ fine applicat

That's a really shitty comment. The author is a long term Rust contributor and has spent their time before on C-land a lot. Yes, he knows how a linker works. Others don't. He took his time to write down something, because some beg

The best way to install it is by installing the VSCode plugin, it will download the binary for you. rustup may arrive in the future and make things better for other plugins.

The latter. rust-analyzer implements the language server protocol like RLS. RLS was implemented using the compiler as a library, which meant it inherited the compilation model of the compiler, which isn't really well-suited for IDEs. T
