For a while now I've been dual hosting my projects on both Github and Codeberg and adding a note in the README's [1] explaining the situation. I donate to Codeberg and run my own self-hosted forgejo runners for actions, and mainta

It will be very funny if it's vim, since Bram Moolenaar who created and ran it worked at Google from 2006 to 2021.

I love the `[[likely]]` and `[[unlikely]]` tags since they nicely encapsulate the Modern C++ philosophy. 1. They don't work that well. 2. The intended use case is that you'd label an unlikely branch that you want to speed up as `[

https://eidetica.dev I've been building a Decentralized Database built on top of syncing CRDTs, and recently got it to a point I can demo. It's definitely in a "proof-of-concept" stage though, known security

This person appears to have been "Languages Product Lead at Google", so they are very used to arguing about how important language choice is.

Unfortunately I can't find the reference now, but I remember reading that even though binary search was first described in the 1940's, the first bug-free implementation wasn't published until the 1960s. The most problematic l

Shameless plug: I'm betting that a lot of applications could use some form of CRDT as a Database, which would allow a fully decentralized backend/database for local-first apps. So I've been building one. Still working on good

I agree that this isn't technically "open source", but the FSL blocks competing use. Is anyone here actually blocked from using Liquibase because of their switch to the FSL?

Data hungry users/coaches probably already use something like TrainingPeaks[1], which has the more advanced features that you seem to want out of Strava. Might be worthwhile to check out if you're looking for ideas. [1] https:&#x

Eidetica is a decentralized database project that I've been working on that is finally in a somewhat usable state. It basically wraps CRDTs into a close to normal Database interface, with decentralized authentication, background sync,

Its "pricing tiers" are "always free for OSS" and "TBD" for commercial use. I like the things I depend on to actually have a funding model, so that's actually more appealing to me than something fully free

I've been mirroring all my public projects on GH and Codeberg using CI to keep things in sync, and add a note to my README's [1] explaining that both can be used. In practice the vast majority of OSS contributors are on Github so

I think you're not understanding. The claim is that view counts are down but revenue is not because people using ad-block previously did not contribute to revenue but did contribute to view count, and now they are not counted as either

I understand why users get annoyed at "rugpulls", but if a company that is doing the vast majority of the work to develop and maintain a project is not financially sustainable they don't have that many options. An article lik

48 hours is a crazy amount of time to spend just to compress a git folder, it's only a couple GB. 41 minutes still seems like quite a long time. Why aren't they just snapshotting and archiving the full git repo? Does `git bundle`

They didn't store anything themselves since they encoded the full state in the urls that were given out. So the link shortener was the only place where the "database", the urls, were being stored.
