That's actually a really good question. It does make me question the hypothesis, which is essentially, is the entropy any different to a lifeless planet just re-radiating solar energy. The answer is probably, not in the long term. You

Life reverses entropy only locally, it still needs to "spend" entropy to do so. In this way, life is an efficient entropy accelerating machine, and we're the pinnacle.

Huh, maybe I'll look into that for my own search needs. If the whole issue is people aren't paying, and this comes without all the other strings, it'd be worth it.

IPv6 bans in transit fragmentation. If any part of the network can't forward a too large packet, it informs the host and puts the onus on them to resend it.

Reading articles like this makes me want to check our local reservoirs more. We build a desal plant to feed about 10% (I think?) of our city's consumption starting in about 2007, when we had some pretty major drought. I believe it is o

Curious about the mesh, what purpose does it achieve? Strength, insulation, shatter resistance, shatter size control? Are there any documented examples of the technology that I could read about?

I feel like these sort of articles are somewhat doomed on social media sites, HN included. The general agreement is that these sorts of things should be deplored. There's not much to disagree on. This lack of back and fourth is going t

Pascals wager is garbage, it underestimates the time, effort and thought cost if there is no god. What sort of reflections would otherwise be meaningful? All the regrets they have? It's a kid, he had cancer, what could he have done dif

I like that the headline on this one actually gives a number. 1 Trillion! Something like 139 trees per person. I read an article similar to this earlier today (not on HN like I posted before I edited this). https://www.abc.net.au

Possibly not. I was reading somewhere that I should actually get an older stock rom image and flash that first, but no I just flashed the rom zip and that was it.

I'm attempting to do that, but I've bumped up against an issue in which I have no radio access from the custom rom. Need to be picky with the hardware, and the stuff most likely to be supported is the most expensive.

I forgot about the running in the background thing. Arguably a strength and a weakness, depending on what's actually running.

You've pretty much covered the bases. The snappiness you describe is because iPhone is more strict with it's app quality. You've also nailed the main use cases for customisability. The big question is, are you ready and willi

I suppose Trump thought that the company was pure evil and forgot how trade worked. This signals that Trump is, in fact, quite soft. However, I'm not certain it is a good thing or not. For so long we've been wanting politicians wh

Is the fix here really just, lets build more infrastructure? If so, who is going to fund it? AI/ML is already mostly a marketing term at this stage, it's all just people who want results now now now. Maybe this is the reason that

So, is this film available in China itself? That would tell us interesting stuff. If it is on Netflix, not officially, but I mean, is it something you can get hold of a pirated version of without attracting the attention of censors.

The RWD thing is definitely important here. Given that the majority of cars and a significant number of SUVs are now FWD, this doesn't hold water. Given it is the front brakes that are more powerful than the rears, and if your brakes a
