The problems from CS (CVP and circuit complexity) are very important problems that have been worked on by top researchers for 30-40 years. Some of these researchers include Turing Award winners. A solution to them would be a best-paper awar

Some of the problems solved here, at least in CS, have been open for decades, and have been worked on by very smart leading researchers in the field, including Turing Award winners. Like, these would be best-paper awards at many top CS conf

It does help for logic errors too, with, eg, sum types and traits and abstraction. Also better defaults.

It is, of course, meant to be taken in a humorous tone here, despite the morbid subject.

Every engineering student in the US takes those courses. I did too. That doesn’t make us top 2-3% of college grads. The stuff you mentioned is first year business for most math undergraduates. You should not expect to know most things in se

We don't call those bots grandmasters and have them compete in championships, nor do we laud them for beating human grandmasters.

Did your 7 semesters of calculus include any courses that a math major would take? For example, a single upper-division undergrad level course on probability will expose you to measure theory. Similarly, harmonic analysis is something that

I mean, unfortunately being completely explicit and pedantic does not scale. Imagine that instead of being able to use high-level programming languages, you had to write in assembly everywhere, all the time. That's what software engine

Re 1: that doesn't help with Zig code that doesn't use your annotations. In contrast, Rust forces all code to use annotations. Re 2: that still looks to me to be a runtime check.

the architecture doesn't make sense. MIRI doesn't perform static analysis on MIR. It is, as the name says, an interpreter. The borrow checker is entirely different from miri. Rust's borrow checker requires lifetime annotation

Why so? Having more time in the evening after work is way better. Getting out of work and it already being dark is depressing.

You think OpenAI didn’t encourage, or even tell them to steal apple IP? Like yes, the employees are not bastions of morality, but they didn’t do it out of insecurity, but because they were recruited to steal IP

The link from Odin to Noah and Adam is only made by explicitly Christian writers. From what we know, the Germanic gods far predate Christianity and even Judaism.

Ok, then call out those aspects. Don’t call the lead a stinky manager who wrote shitty code. Criticize the project and methodology, not the person.
