I looked up DDR5 on Wikipedia, but it seems like ECC is just an option, which I understand was an option with previous generations too (at a much higher cost). Please elaborate on the ECC part, especially if manufacturers have committed to

Can you expand on why you switched to SuperDuper!? I’m in the opposite camp, having used (the free version of) SuperDuper! in the past but switched to CCC. SuperDuper! seemed to have a simpler interface. I’ve been using CCC since it seemed(

It’s called a “bang command”, [1] and DDG redirects that search to another site. You can set DDG as your default search engine but rely on these commands to search on other sites. Just put the bang command anywhere in your search term or

I can’t put my finger on it, but something feels odd to me about these React based or similar static site generators that don’t depend entirely on server side rendering (though that seems to be an option). Perhaps a fraction of a percentage

I’d suggest reading this series of blog posts on Vitamin D by Dr. Deva Boone (they were also shared here before): https://www.devaboone.com/ If you’re deficient or not getting enough exposure to the sun around midday, then

I’ve tried it for calls with a few people and didn’t have a lot of connection related issues. If you’re able to, you could self-host a Jitsi Meet instance at any cloud service provider with a geographically closer presence to you. I’ve been

Looks like you've got the receiver and sender commands reversed. The sender should use input redirection (< file) to read the file and the receiver should use output redirection (> file) to save the file.

Tangentially, I wonder what's happening with Lockwise. [1] It also seems to be languishing without significant improvements. I was expecting it to be a competitor, at least on mobile, to the likes of Bitwarden, 1Password, and other sol

Internet Archive stopped respecting robots.txt since 2017. See https://boingboing.net/2017/04/22/internet-archive-to-ignore...

I have serious issues with this and the fact that site owners have to email a human support team in archive.org to be excluded.

archive.org doesn't handle robots.txt in any meaningful way (see my comment above at https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24516875 ). If that's changed recently, I'd like to know more.

Note that archive.org stopped respecting robots.txt since 2017. [1] In my experience, the site owner must email archive.org support to be excluded from its crawler and archiving. [1]: https://boingboing.net/2017/04/
