Actually, in my experience, read-ahead into cache is what the OS does NOT handle for you. To get file-level read ahead in *nix you need to use normal IO syscalls. mmap is only suitable for completely random IO.

This might work better where people have their own offices with doors that close. Where I work we are all in one room and so constantly sharing banter on and off all day.

Some iPhoners have said consumers were preferring to buy iPhones because they are somehow superior. I think that the masses really just want to buy the new hotness. They want what the other guy has.

Nice job. I went into Applications on my phone and did a "Clear Data" for the location service, and now the app crashes on startup. I assume this is because the file has been deleted.

It appears that you can also delete it by doing a "Clear Data" for the location service in Settings application list.

I've discovered through a bunch of similar lessons that buying really good hardware and hosting yourself sometimes requires the least amount of your time of any option. It provides a stable base on which to build additional redundancy such

The seagate hybrid drive is a scam; it scores worse on some benchmarks than seagate's own normal laptop HDD. It also only uses the cache for reads, and not writes. Writes is where the magic happens! If I wanted more read cache I'd just get

Nothing wrong with it, but it isn't mediocrity. This is only the top small % of small businesses. The rest have an incessant daily struggle to pay the rent and staff wages.

I hate it when this happens. ESXi is excellent, I think one of the best x86 kernels in existence. The management software is nowhere near on par with it; it is finicky Windows software that doesn't match the hypervisor's speed or reliabili

I'd use off the shelf consumer hardware. High density Supermicro chassis with SAS uplinks back to a single server. 2+TB consumer low-power disks. Software raid (eg. ZFS) to manage it all. And finally, host it a site office or low-grade
