Thought experiment: a language that enforces dependencies to be 2 levels deep or less. I wonder if dependencies would flatten out with this limitation in mind.

I just rewatched that scene last night on YouTube. Maybe this is the universe telling me to watch the whole movie again... It's cool to see Noah Wyle getting his due these days ( The Pitt ).

The social features were GH's early secret sauce that contributed heavily to its stickiness and why it eventually dominated. IMO. I should have said "will dent whatever profitability." I'm not sure it exists either. Fr

I've been thinking about this. If you have any kind of home network with attached storage at all, setting your local Git to just use that seems like a logical step. And then if you're still paranoid do a daily backup to like Dropb

They can have the new users pushing out sloppy projects. The serious users leaving will definitely dent profitability. And GitHub being a social network, could start a death spiral.

You could argue this is in keeping with consumer trends, unfortunately. "Endorsing products is the American way to express individuality." Calvin noticed it 30+ years ago.

I've always wondered how many people know about this. As someone who had to persist on Chromebooks for a bit ( before Linux support ), it was a godsend for quick fixes.

The attractiveness of a spreadsheet comes in the display and the charts, etc. For a serious database doing actual transactions, I'm not sure about the utility.

TBH it is a little surprising, because one option available to Google was staying the course and hiding behind their Epic court loss. "Everyone can still access F-Droid, it just has to live in the Play Store. We're bound by law to

2035 for Switch 2 piracy to get started sounds nice, as someone invested in the platform. Maybe we should think about this like the concept of public domain. Locked down for X years in order to protect the artist, then opened up for everyon

v3 introduced proper nested comments and filtering, problem was they were slow to load but even worse was the design. Just very bloated and padded and the information density dropped through the floor. (All based on very old memories.)

I could see some kafkaesque organization writing-up or firing someone for using the wrong font on a PowerPoint presentation. Such companies should be mocked and shamed, not held up as examples to follow.
