It was a random example of an absurd type of convention that normally would not have people seeking romance or hooking up. My comment originally did say "climate convention" but that didn't seem absurd enough to me. Climate d

For me too, I can see how ONE person would be psycho/sexually charged by starting fires. But a couple in a stable relationship? How does that conversation start? Did they meet at a climate denial convention for radicals?

That can't be a universal increase, can it? I've been worried about smog, didn't think to track carbon penetration over the last few decades...

Switch in no way predated USB-C, even talking widespread support... Nintendo rolled their own protocol because they could and USB allows for it.

The market is crying for some kind of '10s "agile hype" equivalent for security evangelism and processes.

Presumably the assumption is that (as with capitalism) an ever-growing population will paper over all problems.

I've always thought about just making a chat client app using email as the underlying standard. Strip out CSS and signatures (and funnel spam/marketing to a separate UI) and bam, you have possibly the most widely-interoperable cha

Is Visual Basic still a thing? That was my start and it always felt like a good intro language. It was limiting but you could still make "real" desktop apps.

It would need to be a zero-day (or close to it), which means nation-state level sophistication. You can decide for yourself whether to include that in your personal threat analysis.

The problem is then you have even fewer technically-competent people internally to actually manage the cloud, and combined with AWS's many documented footguns it's not clear to me the "new normal" is actually any better

Dynamically-loaded context options (with any user-perceptible lag whatsoever) has to be one the greatest UX sins I can think of. Like apps stealing focus on startup (looking at you, Adobe!)

Fedora Silverblue is probably the most appropriate distro for fleeing Windows. Great UI, Snap is coming along and there's fewer footguns.
