THIS. There's technical fixes and then there's systemic fixes. Technical fixes are bandaids.

I forgot about the Three California books, although to be fair, I could spend an entire newsletter issue writing about KSR and climate change.

That's what I ended up doing. I'm pretty happy with the decision.

There's a couple of things that I've thought about when it comes to this sort of thing (speaking as a journalist and someone who's taught journalism to college students). - There's certainly an element where writers and

Well, it went from game concept to homebrewed game, to books, to tv series. I'd definitely recommend giving the show another chance — the actors really grow into their roles.

re B5: yeah! I've been watching it all week.

I think it's probably a good place for it to leave off. The books take a 30 year jump after Book 6.

I always thought about them as trilogies, so you're not the only person.

The authors have actually said that they look at the books as duologies, rather than trilogies (except for the last three). They're also planning to collect all the novellas / short stories into one volume at some point.

Yeah. That's a key thing. I think it's the same reason why Babylon 5 has really held up.

The show's going to end with the next season, before they hit the final three books. That's probably a good thing, considering that they jump three decades for the last segment of the book series. They haven't ruled out that

It'll be interesting to see what Substack does in response to this. I can imagine that they'll lose some folks because Twitter's taking a lower rate.

This. A lot of the projects that you need to do for a house are things that aren't terribly hard to do yourself (or figure out how — YouTube is loaded with tutorials!), and it's a very, very good thing to learn and internalize.

I'm pretty happy that they've started allowing a little more customization — I've changed up the colors on mine for the change of scenery. Hopefully, they'll roll out some additional features as well.

It might be worth scouring eBay for a replacement! I lost my iPod Nano years ago and ended up finding a newish one there to replace it. (Which reminds me... I need to find a new one.)
