I agree. I find Computer Modern to be more suited for mathematics and making it justified as well is not good for readability.

BSD tools instead of GNU that behave differently and old compiler versions. And generally incompatibilities that need to be ironed out, but I'm glad to be mistaken.

From the outside it seems that Mac developers have just as much trouble, but with things like homebrew and developer tools in general. At least if doing anything else than web programming. Is this wrong?

I made pprof work, on my machine at least, by replacing the Unix-style directories with Windows ones. /dev/null -> NUL and /tmp -> $ENV{'TEMP'} in the perl script.
