sqlx is my favorite way of working with databases in Rust hands down. I've tried alternatives like Diesel and sea-orm. To be honest, I feel like full-blown ORMs really aren't a very good experience in Rust. They work great for d

Shadertoy for geometry - Geotoy https://3d.ameo.design/geotoy Most core functionality is finished, and it's ready to go. Still some work to go on docs, tutorials, and polish.

This has to be at least the fifth LLMpeg I've seen posted to hacker news in the past few months. This whole repo is a single 300 LoC Python file over half of which is the system prompt and comments. It's not even a fine-tuned mod

I used this at a previous company with quite good success. With relatively minimal effort, I was able to spin up a little standalone container that wrapped around the service and exposed a basic API to parse a raw address string and return

> runes basically infecting the entire codebase Yeah sadly the stores the author talks about here aren't the right way to do things anymore in modern svelte and they're all-in on Runes. Stores were a big part of the reason I li

Sounds similar to my own experiences trying to debug GH actions locally. I've tried twice now to get it working, pulling down many GBs of images and installing stuff and then getting stuck in some obscure configuration or environment i

Extremely cool! It's interesting and honestly encouraging that this kind of thing can be discovered and understood using just "simple linear methods" and high-level analysis of patterns in layer activations.

This was a great read and had just the right amount of detail to satisfy my curiosity about the process without being annoying to read. Huge props to the author for coming up with this whole process and providing such fascinating details

The part of Svelte 5 which bothers me the most isn't the syntax changes for Runes, but rather the significant increase in complexity that the new API brings. The `Proxy`-based state management API is a perfect example of this. The int

A cynical takeaway from this is that it's hard to write good code and it doesn't really matter if you do or not. Most code at every company I've worked at and project I've built is littered with technical incorrectness a

The GoL example it loaded with seemed to be running way slower than I expected it to. It turns out that there's actually a `usleep(1000 * 100)` call in the code which was inserted to make it easier to see the output; the actual kernel

My primary worry here is that this would hurt the open web - whether or not splitting out Chrome into a separate business would be good for consumers in and of itself. It's true that Google adds a lot of things to Chrome or their own b

What ecosystem are you comparing to? Any C/C++ project with even mild complexity has a good chance of being extremely difficult to build due to either missing libraries that have to be installed manually, system incompatibilities, or c

I've tried out and written about[1] KANs on some small-scale modeling, comparing them to vanilla neural networks, as previously discussed here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40855028 . My main finding was that KA

I've not tried their hosted version no. I doubt that there would be a seamless way to switch between them since all the data lives in Clickhouse, but I could be wrong.

I use the docker-compose setup they provide. There are only two containers iirc, Clickhouse and their web server. Stuck it behind a NGINX frontend and it works just fine.
