Its not necessarily that he wanted to take it off, it may well be that he just didn't want to keep it on.

Nah, SteamVR is their implementation of OpenVR.

The hold up is in negotiations from what I've read. Also the house of lords isn't too comfortable with the bill either.

I realise that, but you understand the intent of the comment which is the point.

I imagine they did, considering the head of LLVM is a (probably distant) coworker of theirs.

I really want ZiPy to take off, a fast Python 3.5 for the JVM would be lovely.

The trouble between google and oracle wasn't about Java, it was about the Java Standard Library and Harmony. Which wouldn't really be solved by Kotlin.

Doesn't Dalvik use a machinist similar to railgun to achieve its performance?

Because they aren't metrics, but search integration. So as I understand it, they equivalent to google instant (safari literally; spotlight on the same vein) and they claim not to retain data on them.

To the best of my knowledge the only telemetry that OSX provides is crash logs, and only if you opt into it. You could argue that spotlight's (and Safari's) web search should be included, but I disagree.

They do a fair bit of enterprise business, but not much in the way to customer facing.

Skype does not gracefully handover anymore. I used to be able to do it for a brief time but the feature just stopped working.

For Swift, a lot of the designs were due to the ability to automatically transform Objective-C apis into swift APIs. The big issue from what i can tell is in extracting the first parameters name from the method name automatically.

They aren't are they? Cached method calls are fairly fast from what i've read. [1] https://www.mikeash.com/pyblog/performance-comparisons-of-co...

What exactly are extension expressions, do you mean extension methods? If so, Swift does support them. I actually miss interface extensions in Kotlin, but thats a java cross compatibility issue.

Honestly, if you were willing to rely on the undocumented SourceKit API then you wouldn't have nearly this many problems.

Its not really a big issue when you consider that no one does any serious web hosting on OSX server. Maybe if you relied on it for profiles?

I imagine its for performance reasons, every obj-c call uses it and adding extra instructions would massively hurt performance.
